The short version: we only collect your email address when you sign up for our launch notification. We use it for one purpose — to tell you when Gifted Exchange launches. We don't sell it, share it, or use it for anything else without telling you first.

1. Who we are

Gifted Exchange is a project operated by 3rd Sector Tech, a small tech business aimed at making the world a better place. References to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy mean 3rd Sector Tech.

3rd Sector Tech is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller.

2. What data we collect

At this stage — before the platform launches — we only collect:

Your email address, when you sign up for our launch notification
Your intended role (e.g. giver, claimer, helper, or organisation), if you select one
The date and time of your signup

We do not collect your name, address, phone number, or any other personal information at this stage.

3. Why we collect it and our legal basis

We collect your email address solely to send you a single notification when Gifted Exchange launches. Our legal basis for processing this data is consent — you actively ticked a box agreeing to receive this email when you signed up.

We do not use your email address for any other purpose without first asking for your explicit consent.

4. How we store and protect your data

Your email address is stored securely with Loops (loops.so), our email service provider. Loops is based in the United States. We have ensured appropriate safeguards are in place for this international transfer in accordance with UK GDPR requirements.

We do not store your email address on any other system at this stage.

5. How long we keep your data

We will keep your email address until one of the following happens:

You unsubscribe or ask us to delete it
We send the launch notification email and you do not opt in to further communications
We decide not to proceed with launching Gifted Exchange, in which case we will delete all waitlist data within 30 days of that decision

6. Sharing your data

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes. The only third party we share your data with is Loops (our email service provider), solely for the purpose of sending you the launch notification you signed up for.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
Erasure — ask us to delete your data
Withdraw consent — unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send you, or by emailing us directly
Complain — you have the right to lodge a complaint with the ICO at ico.org.uk

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@giftedexchange.co.uk and we will respond within 30 days.

8. Cookies

This website does not use cookies or any tracking technology at this stage. We do not use Google Analytics or any other analytics service on this pre-launch page.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will update the "last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you by email. As the platform develops and we collect more data, this policy will be updated accordingly.
